DR Congo to skip Geneva donor conference

(MENAFN) The Democratic Republic of Congo was confirmed to be skipping a donor conference to be held a month from now in Geneva, protest how the country is presented with "a bad image".

The objective behind the donor conference is to generate an amount that is close to USD1.7 billion for the sake of what the UN deemed as a disastrous humanitarian emergency.

Even though the state of the country was admitted by Acting Prime Minister Jose Makila to be undergoing a crisis, the response of the UN was claimed to be discouraging investors.

The UN has stressed how over 13 million citizens of Congo are in desperate need of humanitarian support.
