UAE- 31 countries to take part in Sharjah Heritage Days


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The 16th edition of Sharjah Heritage Days, which will be held from April 4 to 21, will see the participation of 31 countries and four international organisations, the organisers have said.

The heritage festival, to be held under the theme 'With Heritage, We Rise', will affirm the continued pursuit of the emirate to promote culture and tradition to an international audience. Various heritage events and activities will be organised in the emirate's cities and regions.

Addressing a Press conference to announce the details of the event, Abdulaziz Almusallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage and Chairman of the Higher Committee of Sharjah Heritage Days, said that the strategic vision of the programme includes supporting activities and initiatives that promote the rich heritage of the emirate and countries from all over the world.

He added that the event will see the participation of countries including Sudan, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, KSA, Yemen, Iraq, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Mauritania, Libya, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Lebanon, Malta, Italy, Tajikistan, Bosnia, Mexico, Paraguay, Argentina, Croatia, France, Germany, Belorussia, Spain, Japan and China. The Guest of Honour nation will be Czech Republic.

The l event will house a cultural caf hosting 16 sessions besides celebrating a social media caf, ancient historical landmarks, handicrafts, folklore stories, children's village, launching of 12 new e-books and four exhibitions. One of the exhibitions will be specially themed on the Year of Zayed.

"Heritage and culture from all over the world have constantly regenerated itself through centuries. It's time the young generation understand the need to be rooted in their culture, rediscovering and reassessing the cultural heritage with its language, literature, religious faith, architecture and festivals," said Almusallam.
