IPL 2018: 5 overrated Indian players
22 Mar 2018

The 11th edition of IPL is weeks away from kicking off and the franchises are ready with newly acquired players in their arsenal.

While few teams have spent their money judiciously, some seem to have gone overboard by splashing big bucks on 'unproven' talent.

In this context, let's take look at some Indian players who may not live up to their price tag.

Jaydev Unadkat: The most expensive Indian player
What's so special?

At Rs. 11.5 crore, Jaydev Unadkat is the most expensive Indian player to be bought during 2018 auction.

The left-arm seamer had a good outing with Pune in 2017 and picked-up 24 wickets.

However, the price Rajasthan shelled out seems a bit much, especially considering his below par-performance in the Nidahas Trophy.

His lack of variations should be a reason of worry for Royals.

Sanju Samson: Can he justify Rs. 8 cr price tag?
Huge expectations

It's a homecoming of sorts for youngster Sanju Samson, who has been bought by his former team Rajasthan Royals for a whopping Rs. 8 crore.

The wicketkeeper-batsman, who was a part of Delhi Daredevils in 2017, has played 66 IPL matches and scored 1,426 runs.

Again, Rs. 8 crore price doesn't seem to be bang-for-buck investment, considering his performances in previous editions.

Ishan Kishan: The uncapped player of Mumbai Indians
Uncapped

Ishan Kishan, the uncapped Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, sparked a bidding war between Bangalore and Mumbai.

He was finally bought by Mumbai at Rs. 6.2 crore.

With no international experience, limited T20 time, and hardly any memorable IPL innings, he seems an expensive buy.

The 19-year-old is playing his 3rd IPL, he could be a future prospect but he doesn't have match-winning performances under his kitty.

The purchase of ageing Kedar Jadhav by CSK
Questionable

The purchase of 32-year-old Kedar Jadhav at Rs. 7.8 crore feels like a diminishing return on investment.

Jadhav has just scored 893 runs in his 64 IPL appearances and age is not on his side.

His current form hasn't been good and could prove to be a big risk investment for Chennai.

In recent past, he hasn't even featured in international series.

Krunal Pandya at Rs 8.8 cr
Expensive?

At Rs. 8.8 cr, Krunal Pandya became the most expensive uncapped player in IPL 2018.

He has been acquired by Mumbai Indians using their 'Right To Match' (RTM) option.

Even though, he was a part of Mumbai's 2017 IPL winning squad, his contribution was limited except in a couple of matches.

He scored 243 runs in 2017 edition.
