Ahed Tamimi to spend 8 months in jail

(MENAFN) Imprisoned Palestinian teen activist Ahed Tamimi has reached a plea bargain with Israeli army prosecutors that will see her serve eight months in jail.

Ending her trial and bring her to release in July, 17-years-old Tamimi accepted plea bargain which includes a fine of about USD1,400 and a three-year suspended sentence, her lawyer said.

On Dec 15, a few hours after a cousin of Tamimi's was shot in the face with a rubber bullet during a clash between villagers of Nabi Saleh and Israeli forces, Tamimi erupted at a pair of heavily armed soldiers as they took up a position in the front yard of her home.

Tamimi, wearing a kaffiyeh over her denim jacket, screamed at, punched, slapped and kicked at one of the soldiers, an officer.

The blue-eyed and seemingly fearless teenager became a hero for supporters of the Palestinian cause.
