Norwegian sex offender denied entry to the Philippines

(MENAFN- Asia Times) A man who had been convicted on four counts of sexually molesting minors in Norway and planned to visit a 16-year-old in Tarlac has been denied entry to the Philippines.

Kim Vegar Kristoffersen, 29, who flew to the Philippines from Dubai on Monday, was denied entry by officers from the Bureau of Immigration (BI) at Clark International Airport, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.

BI spokesperson Ma. Antoinette Mangrobang said Kristofferson came from Oslo, Norway, and was going to the Philippines to visit his 16-year-old Filipino boyfriend in Tarlac.

Mangrobang said Kristofferson had been convicted four times in Norway for sexually molesting minors.

'We have been very strict and vigilant in turning away these sex offenders because they pose a serious and real threat to Filipino children whom they might abuse if they managed to enter our country,' Mangrobang said.

According to BI commissioner Jaime Morente, immigration officers immediately made arrangements to send Kristofferson back to Dubai.

'He was immediately excluded and booked on the first available flight to his port of origin,' Morente said. Kristofferson was put on the country's blacklist to ensure he is denied entry if he attempts to return.
