(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Six prisoners were released in Ajman as part of the Happiness Day initiative and in honour of the Year of Zayed.

Ajman Police General Command worked with the Sharjah Charity Association to release the six debt-ridden inmates.

They also paid off their dues as a first stage of debt relief ranging from Dh94,000 to Dh125,000.

The decision follows the strategic plans of the Ministry of Interior.

After forming a committee, comprising of members from the Sharjah charity and the Ajman penal and correctional institution, they looked into the prisoners' cases facing financial hardships.

They also plan to assist their families and help them to reintegrate back into society.
