Arg, Jamiat overcome political stalemate, announces Noor


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Former Balkh Governor Atta Mohammad Noor on Wednesday said political crisis between Arg -- Presidential Palace-- and Jamiat-i-Islami has been resolved and both parties reached an agreement.

Noor expressed the view during a gathering which marked Nawroz -- the first day of New Solar Year -- in Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital on Wednesday.

He said political crisis between Jamiat and Presidential Palace was ongoing from the past four months which had been resolved.

The agreement, he said would be announced today or tomorrow. Without naming anyone the former governor said three persons had been introduced to the governor post of Balkh and the one who enjoyed greater public support would be appointed.

€œThe new governor will be like Noor for Balkh,€ he told the gathering.

The former Balkh governor demanded that Gen. Abdul Razeq should remain as police chief of Kandahar and environment for the return of first Vice President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum back to the country should be provided.

Second Vice President Sarwar Danish, cabinet members, parliamentarians, politician, envoys of the neighbouring countries and common people have been participating in the event.
