(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Hutchison Ports Sohar has been recognised as the 'Best Merchant in the Region' by Bank Muscat during a recently concluded awards ceremony.
Kulsum Rashid, interim chief financial officer and company secretary of Hutchison Ports Sohar, accepted the award at the bank's 13th Annual Partners in Progress ceremony held at Hotel Grand Millennium in Muscat.
Every year, Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the sultanate, celebrates and recognises the outstanding achievements of companies that have contributed significantly to the excellence and growth of electronic payments. For four consecutive years, Hutchison Ports Sohar has been recognised as the Best Merchant for its support of the regional card business.
Chief executive officer Albert Pang said, 'Hutchison Ports Sohar is honoured to be recognised as a key partner in fostering the development of innovative e-commerce tools in Oman. For our customers' experience enhancement and convenience, payment processes like online banking and point of sale solutions will be integrated with the terminal's web portal as well as its automated gate system. We partner with the Omani banking and financial community, so that we can make our digital platforms available to customers as soon as possible.'
Over the years, Hutchison Ports Sohar has invested a significant amount of time and money into digitising work processes at the terminal. To enhance the flow of cargo and efficiency of payment, we are also implementing a landside digitisation project (LDP). Together, the LDP and electronic payment solutions from Bank Muscat will contribute to the further growth of e-commerce in Oman.
Hutchison Ports Sohar is a joint-venture between Hutchison Ports, the Government of Oman, Steinweg of the Netherlands and a number of well-established Omani investors. Hutchison Ports Sohar is a modern container-handling facility capable of accommodating the latest generation of mega-vessels. It is situated in the Port of Sohar, outside the Strait of Hormuz in the Gulf of Oman, approximately 200km from Muscat and 160km from Dubai.
