Kuwait wins medals at Special Olympics IX MENA


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Kuwait won 15 more medals in the competitions of Special Olympics IX MENA being held in Abu Dhabi. The team won six gold, two silver and seven bronze medals in athletics, swimming, football, basketball, and bocce competitions. With this, the total number of medals won by Kuwait reached 19 (8 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze). According to a press release, Head of Kuwait's Al-Tomouh Club team Rehab Buresli expressed her happiness for the achievements of the team.

She explained that Dima Al-Asousi won two medals — gold for 100m running race, and bronze for 25m race. Fatima Salah won a gold medal for 25m running race. Nouf Abdulamir won a silver medal for 50m race, and a bronze medal for 25m race. In the men's category, Hassan Samir won two gold medals for 50m and 25m running races. Abdullah Al-Ali won a gold medal for 25m running race and a bronze medal for 50m race.

Kuwait's football team under coach Hesham Matar won bronze medal. The basketball team also won bronze medal. In the swimming competitions, Mohammad Sami won gold medal for 25m backstroke. Meshal Al-Bader won bronze medal for 50m freestyle. Bocce player Lina Bad won silver medal, Abdullah Al-Amri won bronze and Hamad Al-Shaiji came in the fourth place.
