The Crown producers apologize over pay gap

(MENAFN) Netflix royal drama The Crown producers have issued an apology statement after a pay gap was revealed in the payments of Matt Smith and Claire Foy.

The statement said "we want to apologise to both Claire Foy and to Matt Smith, brilliant actors and friends, who have found themselves at the centre of a media storm this week through no fault of their own."

It comes after actor Matt Smith was confirmed to have been paid more than his co-star Clair Foy for the Netflix saga.

Producers have acknowledged that Smith was granted higher pay as a result of his higher profile, leading for a fit of anger to outbreak.
