Philippines warns of fake email recruiting workers to UK

(MENAFN- Asia Times) The Philippines' Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has warned that email scammers are sending messages purporting to be from the Philippine Embassy in the United Kingdom and recruiting people Filipino workers for non-existent jobs.

In a statement , DOLE said the email address does not belong to the embassy.

The Philippine Trade and Investment Centre (PTIC) in London received a report that the fake email account is being used to recruit workers, who are offered a working visa to the UK. The PTIC immediately made it known that the address has nothing to do with the Philippine Embassy nor any Philippine government agency.

Reydeluz Conferido, head of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration in London, said other government agencies are tracking down the source of the email address and will file cases against anyone found to be behind the scheme.

'We hope that we could mobilize the other government resources to track its source and bring to justice those who are so brazen in this illegal activity,' Conferido said.
