EU, UK lawmakers demand data breach clarification from Facebook

(MENAFN) Facebook has been urged by lawmakers of the EU and the UK to explain data breach after it was found out that personal information of users were exploited.

European Parliament president Antonio Tajani declared in a post on Twitter "we've invited Mark Zuckerberg to the European Parliament."

The president continued "Facebook needs to clarify before the representatives of 500 million Europeans that personal data is not being used to manipulate democracy."

It comes after London-based Cambridge Analytica was hit with allegations of exploiting personal data of 50 million Facebook users to influence the US 2016 presidential election.
