Dubai records 2.33 rise in inflation over prices surge


(MENAFN) The Dubai Statistic Centre has found a 2.33 percent increase in the annual consumer price index (CPI) in February.

The increase was said to have been a result of a rise in tobacco prices of 74.63 percent, a 12.58 boost in restaurant and hotel prices, 9.28 percent in transportation, and 6.59 percent in clothing and footwear.

Dubai has also seen other products and services rise, with communications increasing 5.53 percent, 5.04 percent in food and beverages and 3.95 percent in education.

It also increased health by 0.59 percent along with a 2.75 percent surge in furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance.
