In the ongoing Super Sixes stage of the ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2018, five teams are still in contention to qualify for the main event.

The likes of West Indies, Zimbabwe, Scotland, Ireland and Afghanistan could make it to the final and also qualify for the ICC 2019 World Cup to be held in England.

West Indies are in a commanding position

West Indies registered their third victory on Monday in four matches in the Super Sixes against Zimbabwe.

The four-wicket victory saw them stay atop of the table with six points in their kitty.

West Indies had earlier finished as table-toppers.

But qualification still isn't assured as they have to beat Scotland in their final game to avoid a tricky situation.


Samuels, Hope help West Indies stay in the hunt

West Indies beat Zimbabwe by four wickets on Monday courtesy of Marlon Samuels (86) and Shai Hope (76). The duo helped the side chase down a target of 290 runs against a second placed Zimbabwe, which have five points.


Scotland, Ireland in must-win situations

Scotland on third place and Ireland fourth, need to win their respective final encounters to have a chance to qualify for the main event.

Both teams have a difficult final hurdle.

Ireland will be up against Afghanistan, which aren't out yet.

It has gone down the wire, since Afghanistan defeated the UAE on Tuesday.

Scotland need to topple West Indies to qualify.


The Zimbabwe factor

Despite losing against the West Indies, Zimbabwe could seal qualification with a victory in their final game. They face UAE on Thursday and could end up with seven points. If West Indies lose, then Zimbabwe along with Scotland will qualify.
