44 PKK arrested in Turkey


(MENAFN) Turkish authorities have arrested at least 38 people across the country over their suspected links to PKK terror group, Anadolu Agency has reported citing police sources said on Tuesday.

After Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued arrest warrants for 25 PKK suspects, police rounded up 11 out of 38 suspects in the capital Ankara, said one of the sources.

The source claimed that the suspects were plotting a terrorist attack ahead of the March 21 spring festival of Nevruz.

The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which has fought a three-decade insurgency in Turkey, is deemed a terrorist group by the United States, the European Union and Turkey.
