Qatar- Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birth anniversary observed

DOHA: The Embassy of Bangladesh observed the 98th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day on Saturday, in an eventful manner at the Embassy premises.

The Embassy organised an elaborate programme including discussion on the life and works of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, drawing competition for children and cake cutting ceremony,said a release.

A special prayer was also offered seeking salvation of the departed soul of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and for the peace, progress and prosperity of the country.

The messages of President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Bangladesh on the occasion were read out.

In his speech, the Ambassador of Bangladesh, Ashud Ahmed, recalled Bangabandhu's unique role in the emergence of Bangladesh as an independent country. He thanked the Bangladeshi expatriates in Qatar for their hard work and contributions to nation building.

He also urged upon all to bring up their children as patriotic citizens of the country for playing pioneering role for turning the country into golden Bengal as dreamt by Bangabandhu. An audio-visual presentation on the colourful life and works of Bangabandhu was screened during the discussion meeting.

At the end of the day's programme, Ambassador Ashud Ahmed and his spouse Rebeka Sultana distributed certificates and prizes among the winners and participants of drawing competition. The guests were entertained with light refreshment.
