Sri Lanka seeks to consolidate relationship with China

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, in a message to Chinese President Xi Jinping, said that Sri Lanka-China relations have made tremendous progress in the recent past. encompassing various sectors providing rich dividends to both countries.

"I look forward to work with you closely in deepening our bilateral relations," he said.

The Prime Minister said this in a message congratulating Xi Jinping on his re-election as the President of China.

Xi Jinping was elected Chinese president by a unanimous vote on Saturday at the 13th National People's Congress (NPC).

Xi was also elected chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China (PRC) by a unanimous vote. (Colombo Gazette)
