Iran accident: 21 Afghan refugees injured


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Twenty-one Afghan refugees have injured in a road accident in neighboring Iran two days ago, officials in southwestern Nimroz province said on Sunday.

Haji Gul Safi, Nimroz refugee and repatriation director, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 10 of the injured were under treatment in the Civil Hospital in Zaranj, the provincial capital.

Atiqullah Nawzad, head of Civil Society Institutes Network in Nimroz, said that the Afghan refugees were traveling in a vehicle on the Zahidan-Bandari Abbas highway two days ago when the accident occured.

He said 11 of the injured were under treatment in Iran due their critical condition.

These Afghan refugees are residents of Badghis, Ghor and Kunduz provinces, he said.

Mohammad Jumma, one of the injured, said: €œWe traveled to Iran in search of work. We hardly entered Iran through Nimroz and then Pakistan but most of us returned dead or injured.€

Abdul, another injured, said: €œWe were 21 men in the vehicle when it vehicle overturned and we all sustained injuries.€
