3 killed, 8 wounded in Jalalabad blast


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Four supporters of Hizb-I-Islami Afghanistan (HIA) were killed and 11 others wounded in a blast in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province on Monday, an official said.

Governor€™s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News the explosion occurred near Behsud Bridge in first police district of Jalalabad city this noon.

He said that the explosives were rigged in a motorcycle and targeted civilians. Four civilians were killed and 11 others were wounded in the incident, he added.

Khogyani said the wounded were shifted to Nangarhar Zonal Hospital for treatment.

Hamdullah, an eyewitness of the incident, told Pajhwok the blast targeted a Coaster model vehicle carrying HIA supporters.

He said several people suffered casualties in the incident but he had no exact figures.

No any groups so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

HIA organized a huge gathering in Jalalabad where he was talking to his supporters today.

The blast happened just minutes after the gathering was ended and people were returning to their homes.
