Bolivia turns to international court for Chile talks on sea access


(MENAFN) The International Court of Justice has received an appeal from Bolivia to issue an order for Chile to participate in talks about offering Bolivia access to the Pacific Ocean.

Bolivia has long been seeking to be granted an access to the Pacific Ocean as it claimed Chile to had been breaking promises to join negotiations.

Judges have been delivered a statement on the matter from Bolivia's former President Eduardo Rodriguez Veltze.

The statement said "restoring Bolivia's sovereign access to the sea would make a small difference to Chile, but it would transform the destiny of Bolivia."
