(MENAFN- Asia Times) A Filipino domestic worker will be reunited with her two teenage sons, who she had not seen in five years, after being granted permanent residency in Canada.
Ruby de Loyola, 38, will bring her sons Jaden, 16, and Cyrille, 15, to Cape Breton as permanent residents, the Cape Breton Post reported.
De Loyola said she decided to work abroad to earn more money to support her family. She worked in Hong Kong for several years before moving to Canada. She had been working as a maid in Edmonton and earning CA$300 (US$229) per month.
There she met Chris Abbas, a Canadian citizen, who she married and then moved to Cape Breton. Abbas sponsored de Loyola's permanent residency.
After applying and waiting two years, she and her sons were granted permanent resident status in Canada. De Loyola has now returned to the Philippines to collect her sons and the family will be immigrating to Canada.
'They are nervous to come, but they are excited too. We have been talking and dreaming of this for a very long time,' she said.
