DOHA: In its ninth edition, Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) features a number of new offerings including the QIFF VIP Igloos and a number of competitions.
For the first time ever, QIFF introduces its special VIP seating area with six igloos for an exclusive festival experience. The service includes complimentary coffee and dates and a personal butler who can assist with providing meals from any of the festival's participants. A VIP igloo costs QR250 for one hour and QR400 for two hours and can accommodate eight to 10 people.
The QIFF VIP igloos were designed and delivered by VCU-Q alumnus Aisha Al Sulaiti, owner of Metric Design Studio which specialises in delivering special seating experiences. Those who wish to make a reservation can call 3342-7988.
Also new this year is an exciting competition called 'So You Think You Can Cook? in which food hobbyists can show off their culinary talents at the beIN stand.
The competition which runs daily from 7pm to 8pm sees up to eight contestants go head-to-head to see who can cook the best meal from a surprise basket of fresh ingredients and a microwave oven. Three winners are announced every day and they walk home with an LG microwave oven. Those interested to participate should present themselves at the stand; registration is on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Meanwhile, Wahab for food donation is calling on all festival participants to make sure no meal goes to waste. At the end of each day, food sellers can take untouched food to the Wahab booth located near the kids play area, where volunteers will repackage them to distribute the meals to the less fortunate in Doha.
Festival-goers can skip the parking and get to Hotel Park using an Uber. The ridesharing service is offering 20 percent off on two rides to users using the promocodeQIFF2018.
