Winter Paralympics closes US top medal table

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The 12th Winter Paralympics were declared closed on Sunday, with the United States finishing on top of the medals table.
Pyeongchang, which also hosted last month's Winter Olympics, had welcomed 567 disabled athletes to the Games to compete in 80 medal events.
The US topped the medals standings with 13 gold, 15 silver and eight bronze medals.
The Neutral Paralympic Athletes - Russians - deemed clean and allowed to
compete, finished second with eight golds along with Canada in third.
Like the Olympics, the Russian team as a whole was banned due to widespread doping practices.
