(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Local security officials on Sunday said 11 Taliban insurgents and Afghan Local Police (ALP) members suffered casualties during a clash in northwestern Faryab province.
Abdul Karim Yurish, Faryab governor€™s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News a group of Taliban insurgents attacked an ALP checkpoint in the Mireshkar area of Almar district late on Saturday.
He said three militants and an ALP member were killed and four other ALP members and three insurgents were injured in the clash.
Khal Mohammad, one of the ALP member who was injured in the incident, said the Taliban insurgents were equipped with heavy weapons attacked their post.
He said that the clash continued for several hours and reinforcements did not arrive on time despite request.
Pajhwok tried to contact the local Taliban for a comment about the incident, but failed.
