German Chancellor Merkel: EU in crucial phase

(MENAFN) The EU has received a warning from German Chancellor Angela Merkel of being in a decisive phase, as Germany aspires to discuss with France key European matters as fast as possible.

Next week's European Council is to be the first for discussions on the UK future ties with the EU following the exit, the German Chancellor noted in a video podcast.

Chancellor Merkel pointed out "of course, Britain has to say what it wants," she then added "this also means that we continue to work closely together in the scientific field."

The Chancellor also stressed Germany's goal together with French President Emmanuel Macron to address matters that are simpler to find a resolution for at European level than at national level, as she declared "France and Germany will work together very closely."
