Qatar- Activities in full swing at Empower Youth Conference

DOHA: Organised by Education Above All (EAA) Foundation's programme, Reach Out to Asia (ROTA), the second day of Empower Youth Conference 2018, Qatar's largest annual youth gathering, was packed with activities for the 450 youth taking part in the three-day event.

It included insightful practical sessions in the form of workshops, panel discussions and inspirational speeches by influential personalities.

The day began with workshops survey instructions, then an interactive activity on the objectives of sustainable development, especially the fourth goal of education, where each group was asked to study the issue and propose solutions from a youth perspective, followed by a variety of workshops. In addition, a 20-minute short film ‘Al-Johara' by Nora Al Subai, Qatari writer and director, was also featured during the event.

Thereafter, Community Engagement Manager, Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Khalid Al-Jumaily took the stage for an interesting presentation titled, ‘Journey To Amazing.' Furthermore, Aisha Al-Khaldi and Aisha Al-Muftah made a presentation on ‘Vendstation Stationary' aims to encourage youth to innovate and become entrepreneurs.

As for the main panel discussion on ‘Youth Empowerment Key Opportunities and Challenges', which was moderated by Anas Ghanim, one of the ROTA youth Advisory Board Members, different topics were addressed, as Ghanim spoke on ‘Global Citizenship and theSustainable Development Goals (SDGs)', whereas Elizabeth Ann Koenig, Professional Development Director of National Youth leadership council (NYLC), enlightened the audience on ‘Service Learning'.

On his part, Tariq Bekri, ROTA's International Programs Specialist, elaborated on ‘Youth Empowerment and Promoting Youth Voice' while Mohamed Al Jufairi, Youth Leadership expert, shared his experiences on ‘Leadership'. To enthuse youngsters, an inspirational speech was delivered by ROTA's Literacy Program.

The second day also deciphered on the inspiring success stories and achievements by artist and social-media influencer Abdul Hameed Al Siddiqi; Ruqaya Al Saada, Entrepreneurship Advisor at Bedaya Center and Co-founder of Rwaq; and Salman Al Khanji, First Qatari Strava.
