U.S. Army hands over 20 kits of metal detectors to Ukraine


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Within the framework of the the U.S.Humanitarian Demining Program, representatives of the U.S. Armed Forces handed over to Ukraine's Special Transport Service 20 kits of modern metal detectors worth UAH 1.5 million.

This is stated on the website of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine.

"InChernihiv, atthe training center ofthe State Special Transport Service, inthe framework ofthe U.S.Humanitarian Demining Program, the representatives ofthe United States European Command and the Defence Cooperation Office ofthe U.S.Embassy inUkraine handed over 20kits of metal detectors tothe State Special Transport Service ofUkraine," the statement reads.

'Weneed toconduct mass and high-quality demining activities ineasternUkraine and ensure security oflocal population. Modern demining equipment isnecessary forthis, State Secretary ofthe Defence Ministry ofUkraine Col. Gen. Oleksandr Dublyan said.

According toHead ofthe Administration ofthe State Special Transport Service Lieutenant General Mykola Malkov, this equipment will increase the level ofEOD units' response torisks, aswell asquality and security ofmine clearance works.

The State Special Transport Service isaspecialized military formation within the Defence Ministry ofUkraine.
