(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) SHARANA (Pajhwok): An Afghan Local Police (ALP) member killed 15 Taliban militants after snatching their gun in Gomal district of southern Paktika province, local security officials on Thursday, but the Taliban rejected the claim.

Darya Khan, ALP forces commander in Sarobi district, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the ALP member named Awal Khan inflicted casualties on 25 Taliban insurgents. €œThis man killed 15 insurgents and wounded 10 others,€ he said.

Awal Khan told Pajhwok he also seized a ranger pick-up, a rocket launcher and a machinegun from the Taliban.

€œI was traveling to Gomal district with a friend when the Taliban captured us in Zara Kala area, they wanted to take us to the Taliban€™s shadow governor, they killed my friend on the way but I took a machinegun from the back of their car and started shooting,€ he said.

Khan killed 15 Taliban and wounded 10 others in the incident, which was also confirmed by Shah Mohammad Aryan, Paktika police spokesman.
