King checks on PSD preparedness, plans, restructuring process


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army, on Monday visited the Public Security Department (PSD) and met with PSD Director Maj. Gen. Fadel Hmoud, according to a Royal Court Statement.

During the meeting, His Majesty stressed the important role of the PSD in protecting citizens and their rights and in consolidating the rule of law.

He highlighted the necessity of continuing the PSD's restructuring plan aiming to improve the performance of the department.

His Majesty stressed the importance of constant training for the department's personnel to improve their capabilities and enable them to carry out their duties efficiently, the statement said.

King Abdullah pointed out that the PSD personnel should be fully prepared and able to deal with various situations, expressing his confidence in the ability of the PSD to combat crime and safeguard the national security.

Maj. Gen. Hmoud presented a summary about the department's plans and future strategies to improve the level of police and security services delivered to the public. He also outlined the department's achievements in maintaining security and stability, preventing and combating crime, and enforcing the rule of law.

Hmoud also pointed to the launch of the Public Security Strategy 2018-2020 along with the restructuring of all PSD units. He also cited a study to develop work mechanism and duties at various units and departments that have direct contact with citizens.

He stressed that the PSD is continuing to carry out its noble mission in accordance with the directives of His Majesty.
