(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Three children, as young as five years old, were killed and a fourth sustained wounds in a landmine blast in northern Faryab province, an official said Sunday.

The slain children, including a girl, were playing with an unexploded rocket shell they had found in Kosa Qala village of Khwaja Subzposh district on Saturday evening, the town€™s administrative chief said.

Abdullah Masumi told Pajhwok Afghan News the children from the same family had found a mortar bullet or a rock that exploded.

Seraj-u-Din, father of the wounded child, said the slain children aged between five and seven year were two brothers and their sister. They were children of a poor man, Rahmatullah, he said.
