2 children killed in Maidan Wardak crossfire


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): Two children were killed and eight other civilians were wounded during a clash between security forces and Taliban militants in central Maidan Wardak province, an official said on Saturday.

Abdul Rahman Mangal, the governor€™s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in Yousufkhel locality of Sayed Abad district late on Friday night.

He said bullets fired during the clash hit a civilian home, killing two children and wounding eight others including women and children of a family.

Mangal said a number of tribal elders of the district visited the governor and complained about the incident. The governor assured them of investigating the incident.

Habiburahman, a resident of the district, said: €œbullets hit Haji Khan Gul€™s residence where a fateha ceremony was underway€.

He said two children, a girl and a boy aged about four years, were killed and eight others including women were injured in the incident. Some of the injured were guests and daughter in laws of Haji Gul.
