Bolivia considers 'national disaster' declaration over brutal floods


(MENAFN) Bolivia is thinking over the option of raising a "national disaster" after undergoing brutal floods that resulted in 85,000 citizens to be deprived of their homes.

Defense Minister Javier Zabaleta declared "we have not dismissed the possibility of declaring a national disaster."

He added "although we still have the capacity to attend the national emergency declared by the executive branch through the three levels of government."

La Nina weather phenomenon has reportedly poured down rainfalls that caused eight deaths and destroyed countless numbers of homes, along with spoiling cropland, bridges and roadways.
