North Korea accuses 'act of war' in US sanctions

(MENAFN) The US recent sanctions imposed on Pyongyang have been deemed by North Korea as an "act of war", as they claimed the Trump administration to be investing an effort to weaken the enhancement of inter-Korean ties.

North Korea has made its statement following the US Treasury's sanctions against over 50 North Korean related vessels, shipping companies and trade businesses.

Citing the Foreign Ministry of North Korea, KCNA news agency reported "the two Koreas have cooperated together and the Olympics was held successfully."

It continued "but the US brought the threat of war to the Korean Peninsula with large-scale new sanctions on the DPRK ahead of the Olympics closing ceremony."
