Oman- Aqualia, Majis set up new joint venture to manage water facilities at Sohar port


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Spanish hydro-technology firm Aqualia recently signed a joint venture (JV) agreement with Majis Industrial Services to manage and operate water installations in the Port of Sohar.

The new JV will be known as Oman Sustainable Water Services SAOC. 'It (new JV) will undertake operations and maintenance for 20 years of seawater intake plants, production and supply of drinking and process water, the collection and network of cooling water', Majis Industrial Services said in a statement posted on its website.

According to the Spanish firm, the new company will operate and maintain the installations for sea water intake, the production and supply of drinking water and the processing, collection and system for cooling water, waste water treatment, sewerage system and the management of recycled waste water. Initially it will start with the sea water intake and will extend the service to other processes in the Port of Sohar installations and under the jurisdiction of the Port Authority.

In a press release issued by Aqualia, Luis de Lope, international director of Aqualia said that the project started in Oman fits perfectly in the Spanish firm's business model. 'It is a project that promotes innovation and continuous improvement, where we can provide our knowledge and experience in all facets of the water cycle. We are starting our route today in Oman in the hands of Majis. We were impressed by their professionalism and attention to details,' he said.
