Indonesia: 16 deaths, 20 injuries in landslides


(MENAFN) Disaster agency announced the death of 16 people with 20 other wounded in floods and landslides that hit Central Java district of western Indonesia.

The phenomenon located in Brebes and Purbalingga areas began five days ago, according to Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, the national disaster management agency spokesman.

The spokesman added those relief crews have been ongoing as they found the bodies of nine people, while 14 farmers were harmed by the landslides in Pasir Panjang village of Brebes district.

The floods spread into many villages, causing the death of another 3 people, Sutopo declared.
