Japan to consider compensations after fuel tanks dumping

(MENAFN) Japan is willing to take up a call for compensation from local fishermen after their business was inflicted with a negative impact when an American jet fighter threw two fuel tanks into a lake, Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera confirmed.

Citing his speech, the minister declared "we take very seriously that the fishermen have been forced to halt operations. We will deal sincerely and appropriately with compensation."

He continued while speaking at a meeting with Aomori Gov. Shingo Mimura "we have caused trouble to people in the town of Tohoku and Aomori Prefecture."

Gov. Mimura also declared after the meeting "the defense minister promised compensation faithfully. Now we want the Maritime Self-Defense Force (MSDF) to make sure they remove the tanks."
