(MENAFN) The work of Oxfam Great Britain in Haiti has been shut after its staff members' misconduct allegations came in view.
Even though the charity apologized and declared "shame" for its employees' alleged misconduct, Haiti was determined to suspend its operations.
The suspension of Oxfam was confirmed by Planning and External Cooperation Minister Aviol Fleurant to have come as a result of "serious failings" the charity committed in the period between 2010 and 2011.
The minister declared "if during the two month-long investigation, I find out there is a link between the aid funds that Oxfam received on behalf of Haiti and the crime that has been committed, we will... declare Oxfam Great Britain persona non grata in the country."
