A question in UP's Class 12 English board exams has riled primary school teachers in the state.

Arts and Commerce students were asked to write a letter to the district magistrate "drawing his attention towards the laxity of primary school teachers in performing their duties."

Calling it a "deliberate move to defame primary teachers," they have threatened to approach the Allahabad HC.

UP Board secretary Neena Srivastava said the question didn't mean to hurt sentiments.

"Clear directives are issued to the teachers engaged in setting question papers to avoid asking questions which could raise a dispute," she explained.

"I'll find out how this type of question was set by experts and then passed by moderators. Action would be taken after that," she assured.
