70 militants eliminated in countrywide operations: MoD


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): Seventy militants have been killed during security operations in different parts of the country over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) claimed on Friday.

Insurgents suffered the fatalities in Nangarhar, Laghman, Kapisa, Paktia, Ghazni, Logar, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Zabul, Farah, Badghis, Faryab, Takhar, Balkh, Nimroz and Helmand provinces.

A statement from the ministry said at least nine armed opponents of the government were wounded and six others caught alive during the operations. The Afghan Air Force (AAF) conducted 73 raid against the rebels.

Although the MoD did not comment on security forces€™ casualties, the Taliban claimed killed and wounding dozens of government forces during clashes in different provinces.
