Pakistan- 'Work on construction of Naqeebullah college started'


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR, 23 February: The federal government has directed the authorities at the Fata Secretariat to start work on the construction of a college in South Waziristan agency in the name of Naqeebullah Mehsud, officials said here on Friday.

According to officials, the construction of a college in Makin area of South Waziristan agency is part of the agreement reached between the Prime Minister and members of the Pakhtun Tahafuz Movement.

The sources added that the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had directed the Ministry of Safron to intimate Fata Secretariat to start work on the construction of the college.

In the first phase, the administration of the South Waziristan agency has reportedly identified three sites for the construction of college in Makin area, the native village of Naqeebullah Mehsud. The sources added that the officials had completed all the homework after consultation with Senator Saleh Shah and MNA Jamaluddin.

Construction of a college in the name of Naqeebullah Mehsud was one of the demands of the participants of the sit-in, staged outside the National Press Club in Islamabad. The sit-in was primarily organized to demand justice for Naqeebullah Mehsud, who was killed in a fake police encounter in Karachi on January 13.

The participants of the sit-in presented a list of demands to the federal government including arrest of Rao Anwar, the then SSP Malir who allegedly led the encounter team which killed Mehsud, recovery of missing tribal people, probe into extrajudicial killings of Pashtuns all over the country, removal of landmines from Fata and construction of a college in Makin area.
