Diplomatic mission in Geneva, embassies in Mongolia, Bosnia mark Kuwait's Nat'l Days

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Feb 23 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Permanent Mission to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, and the embassies in Mongolia and Bosnia and Herzegovina have marked the 57th National Day, the Gulf country's 27th Liberation Day and 12th anniversary of His Highness Amir's ascendance to power.

The Geneva Mission's ceremony on Thursday was attended by President of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) Vojislav Suc, envoys of Kuwait's sisterly and friendly countries, as well as senior officials of the UN and other international organizations there, said Permanent Representative to the UN Office Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghunaim.

Suc's participation in the Mission's celebrations of the National Days reflects UNHRC's recognition of Kuwait's elevated status on the diplomatic and the humanitarian scenes, Al-Ghunaim added.

Al-Ghunaim also received UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Rashid Khalilov who commended Kuwait's philanthropic role through the UN and other relevant organizations.

Kuwait's support has helped a lot in facing several humanitarian crises resulting from conflicts or catastrophes, he said.

Al-Ghunaim offered congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

In Ulaanbaatar, Kuwait's ambassador Khalid Yateem Al-Fadhli hosted a reception to mark the National Days, attended by Mongolian Minister of Health Davaajantsangiin Sarangerel and representatives of the international organizations in the country.

Addressing the occasion, Al-Fadhli hailed bilateral relations, recalling Mongolia's vote for Kuwait's membership at the UNSC in New York last June.

He pointed to the projects financed by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), covering roads, a power plant and a medical center for burns.

Such projects have supported the infrastructure in Mongolia, besides fostering bilateral ties.

Al-Fadhli referred to Fareej Al-Kuwait housing project, financed by the Kuwaiti cabinet and opened last September to host families whose homes were destroyed by floods that hit East Mongolia in 2015.

The envoy congratulated His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on the dear national occasion.

In Sarajevo, a ceremony was held at the Kuwaiti embassy, attended by Bosnia and Herzegovina's Speaker of the House of Representatives Sefik Dzaferovic, Speaker of the House of Peoples Safet Softic, and Minister of Civil Affairs Adil Osmanovic, together with heads of diplomatic missions, senior officials, businessmen and leading media and social figures.

Congratulating the Kuwati leadership and people, Ambassador Nasser Al-Mutairi also highlighted Kuwait's hosting of two major international events recently, the Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq (KICRI) and the ministerial meeting of the International Coalition against the so-called Islamic State (IS).

He also lauded bilateral ties, recalling Sarajevo's vote in favor of Kuwait's membership at the UNSC. (Pick up previous) ta.msa
