Ford's president of North America sacked over inappropriate behavior

Ford Motor Company on Wednesday announced that it was firing Raj Nair, its executive president of North America, over inappropriate behavior.

The decision follows an internal investigation that found Nair's behavior "inconsistent with the company's code of conduct."

Nair, who had also served as Ford's global product development and chief technical officer, had been working with the automobile giant since 1987.

Ford hasn't yet revealed what kind of "inappropriate behavior" led to Nair's sacking.

In a press release, CEO-president Jim Hackett said the move had been taken "after a thorough review and careful consideration."

"Ford is deeply committed to providing and nurturing a safe and respectful culture and we expect our leaders to fully uphold these values," he added.


'I haven't exhibited leadership behaviors consistent with company's principles'
Nair's admission


The press release also included Nair's statement.

"I sincerely regret that there have been instances where I have not exhibited leadership behaviors consistent with the principles that the company and I have always espoused. I continue to have the utmost faith in the people of Ford Motor Company and wish them continued success in the future," he said.


Ford is yet to announce Nair's replacement

Nair, who has worked with Ford for the last 31 years, was appointed the president of Ford North America on June 1, 2017. Though he has been sacked "with immediate effect," his replacement hasn't been announced yet.
