UAE- DEWA organises 7th Annual Innovation and the Future Conference

DUBAI, 22nd February, 2018 (WAM) -- Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has said that investments in Artificial Intelligence, AI, top DEWA's priorities. DEWA seeks to achieve the utmost returns from AI especially in utilities management, and smart consumption in renewable energy sector, he added.

Speaking during the 7th Annual Innovation and the Future Conference, Al Tayer said, "Investment in Artificial Intelligence tops our priorities at DEWA and we seek to achieve the utmost returns on it, especially in utilities management, smart consumption in renewable energy sector, precise analytics and research to provide resources in energy and water sectors, and the improvement of our smart services to unprecedented levels. This will reinforce DEWA's reputation locally, regionally and globally in customer experience and service accessibility."

Organised by DEWA, the conference is part of the UAE Innovation Month, under the theme ‘Innovation starts with you'. UAE Innovation Month is held annually under the directives of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to encourage innovation and harness it to achieve sustainable development and shape the future.

The conference was attended by Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence; DEWA's Executive Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, and staff. Patrick Schwerdtfeger, Futurist; Daan Roosegarde, Artist and Innovator at Studio Roosegarde Architecture; and Alia Al Mansoori, UAE Genes in Space Winner gave presentations during the event.

Several topics in the field of innovation were covered via interactive sessions. These included ‘DEWA and Artificial Intelligence', ‘Best Practices in the Application of Artificial Intelligence', ‘Artificial Intelligence in Space', and ‘Artificial Intelligence and Nature'. Specialists and experts in innovation and AI discussed key challenges facing this sector, and ways to stimulate innovation and make it an institutional and governmental choice.
