Taxi passenger returning lost iPhone assaulted by three men

Police are looking for three men who allegedly assaulted a 33-year-old Good Samaritan while he was trying to return a lost iPhone.

The man, surnamed Cheung, was travelling with his wife in a taxi from Tsim Sha Tsui in Kowloon to their home in Hung Hom at 4am on Wednesday when they found the iPhone 7 lying on the back seat, Headline Daily reported.

They were about to hand the phone, worth around HK$7,000 (US$894), to the driver when it rang. A man who identified himself as the owner arranged to collect the phone in Hung Hom.

When the couple arrived at Tak Man Street near Dock Street a man appeared and grabbed the phone, while three other men holding beer bottles approached Cheung and attacked him.

suffered head injuries and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment, Apple Daily reported.

The police are checking surveillance camera footage for leads on the identities of the attackers. No arrests have yet been made.
