Oman- OCA holds 'Hug a Bear' event for 50 children

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Around 50 children under the age of ten years attended the 'Hug a Bear' event held at The Royal Hospital on Wednesday. Organised by Oman Cancer Association (OCA), the event saw children with cancer and their parents along with the doctors from the oncology department of the hospital.

Various other activities like interaction with cartoon characters and face painting were also held to entertain the children.

The objective of the event was to make children with cancer feel good about themselves and their parents. Dr Wahid al Kharusi, president, OCA said, 'We celebrate February 4 as World Cancer Day. However, The Royal Hospital was engaged in some event during that period, so we had the event after a few weeks.

'The aim is to make the children feel good by engaging in some activity like hugging a bear, face painting and cake cutting. We want to make these little heroes special every single day.'

He added that cancer treatment for adults and children is not the same. While adults need a shorter time children need more time, care, treatment and understanding for the treatment.
