Turkey detains 6 opposition party members for propaganda of terrorism

Turkey has detained six members of the opposition People's Democratic Party (HDP) for propaganda of terrorism on social networks, the Turkish media reported Feb. 21.

The operation to detain the HDP members was held in the Kocaeli province in the north-west of Turkey.

Turkey has detained over 786 people for propaganda of terrorism on social networks since the beginning of the Operation Olive Branch.

Among the detainees, there are also 16 members of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) terrorist group.

On Jan. 20, the Turkish Armed Forces, together with the Free Syrian Army, launched the Operation Olive Branch in Afrin, Syria.

F-16 fighters of the Turkish Air Force are involved in the operation, inflicting strikes on the positions of PYD/YPG on the Syrian-Turkish border.
