Oman Data Park opens centre in Duqm


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Oman Data Park (ODP) opened its new centre in Duqm on Tuesday. The ceremony was held under the patronage of H E Yahya bin Saeed al Jabri, chairman of the Special Economic Zone Authority in Duqm (SEZAD).

It's the company's third centre, after Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM) and one in Wattayah. In May 2017, ODP signed a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with SEZAD. The company will store economic data, traffic movement, and SEZAD'S economic and commercial plans within Duqm. The data centre is expected to provide a fully secure environment for hosting SEZAD's ICT services, and enhancing operational efficiency with the highest level of security.

Maqbool al Wahaibi, CEO, ODP, said that data park provides critical ICT infrastructure in Oman. 'With our rich cloud services we are confident to minimise the total cost of ownership of corporates and absorb operational costs.' The data centre in Duqm will serve strategic industrial area, enabling the industry from an ICT operational perspective, he added. ODP will also provide backup and recovery services to corporates outside Duqm, he said. 'The data centre will help in pushing Duqm to be a smart city.' ODP is a joint venture between Omantel and 4Trust.
