Peru former President to be trialed for 1992 murders

(MENAFN) Peru has issued an order against its former President Alberto Fujimori to appear at court over the murder of six farmers in 1992.

The order has been issued following his jail release a little more than a month ago, after serving 25 years in prison for charges of corruption and human rights abuses.

However, his sentence was interrupted as a result of health issues that granted him a pardon, though the latest case was confirmed by court to not account for his health problems.

The former President, aged 79, insisted he would appeal against the verdict of the court, claiming his innocence.
