Now control your paper planes with a smartphone app

US-based start-up PowerUp has created paper planes that can be controlled by smartphones.

The product includes the main Dart module which provides paper planes' remote control and technology, two plane templates and a guide, all at a cost of $29. Other higher-priced packs also offer additional modules for advanced-level flying.

The company has launched a campaign on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo for Dart.

PowerUp's Dart aims to convert paper planes from simple gliders into powered aircraft that can be controlled with a smartphone app.

Notably, the company simply provides a conversion kit that has to be attached to a self-folded paper plane.

Once a paper plane is folded and a Dart module is attached to it, users can pair it with their smartphones over Bluetooth.

According to PowerUp, "Dart is equipped with a high-speed motor and propeller and a lightweight design. The thrust to weight ratio enables it to perform aerobatic maneuvers, climb vertically and recover from steep descends."

Paper planes powered by Dart can achieve a speed of up to 40 km/h. Further, through the app, users can see an artificial horizon and range information as well.
