MALAYSIA: HUNDREDS RESCUED, FIVE HOURS AFTER LANGKAWI ISLAND RESORT CABLE CAR DISRUPTION. Tourists stranded after Langkawi island's cable car broke down on Feb 18, 2018. Hundreds of visitors were trapped in cable cars and stranded on top of a hill in Langkawi were rescued, about five hours after the cable car service was disrupted by a system fault on Sunday afternoon (Feb 18). Langkawi SkyCab cable car system, managed to rectify the malfunction just before 11 pm, to begin bringing down 960 tourists and 78 staff from the 708-metre Mount Machinchang summit to the base station.
